Pricing guide · Updated 2026
How much does a website cost in Boise?
An honest 2026 guide.
The short answer: a small-business website in Boise can cost anything from a few hundred dollars a year to well over $20,000, depending on who builds it and what it needs to do. We've built websites in the Treasure Valley since 2000, and we publish our own prices. Here's how to make sense of the range, and how to budget without overpaying.
What drives the price
Six things that decide what a website costs.
Two Boise businesses can ask for "a website" and get quotes $10,000 apart. Almost always, the difference comes down to these six things.
More pages means more design, writing and testing. A five-page site for a new business is a very different job from a 20-page site with a page for every service and city you serve. Page count is the simplest way to compare quotes.
A pre-made theme is cheaper up front, but you look like everyone else using it and you're stuck with its limits. Custom design costs more because someone is designing your headers, page layouts and branding from scratch.
Good copy is the part most people underestimate. If you supply finished text and photos, the price drops. If you need pages written around the searches your customers make, budget for it.
Online booking, e-commerce, memberships, donations, multiple languages, CRM connections and chatbots each add build time. A contact form is simple. A store with 30 products is not.
Some quotes include on-page SEO, local business schema and speed tuning. Others treat them as extras. A cheaper site that never shows up on Google isn't really cheaper.
A DIY builder costs your time. A freelancer, a local studio and a large agency each price differently based on overhead, experience and how much support you get after launch.
Typical market ranges
What websites typically cost across the market.
These are general ranges you'll see in Boise and nationally, not quotes. Prices vary a lot by scope, so use them to sanity-check proposals, not as fixed numbers.
Typically a monthly subscription, often somewhere around $20 to $60 a month, plus add-ons like premium templates, apps and email. The real cost is your time: designing, writing, and fixing things yourself. A good fit for a brand-new side business testing an idea.
Custom sites from studios and agencies commonly range from about $3,000 to $25,000, and larger builds can go well beyond that. You're paying for a team, a process, strategy and support after launch.
Small-business sites from freelancers can range from around $1,000 to $5,000 or more. Quality varies widely. The best freelancers are excellent; the risk is availability, since a single person can move on, get busy or stop answering.
Portals, dashboards, booking systems and internal tools are software, not websites. They're usually quoted per project and can range from the mid four figures for a focused first version to six figures for complex systems.
Website or web app?
Know which one you're actually buying.
A lot of confusing quotes come from mixing these up. A website tells people about your business and brings in leads. A web app does work for your business: customers log in, book, track orders or see their data, and your team runs operations from a dashboard.
| Website | Web app | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Get found and win customers | Run a process (bookings, tracking, reporting) |
| Who uses it | The public | Logged-in customers and staff |
| How it's priced | Mostly by pages and features | By workflows, roles and integrations |
| Timeline | Weeks | Phased, first version in months |
| Our starting price | $1,550 | $4,850, custom quoted |

Four steps to a budget that holds up.
Walk through these before you talk to any web designer. You'll get better quotes and know immediately when something's been left out.
Calls, bookings, sales or donations? Write down the one thing the site has to do. It keeps you from paying for features you won't use.
Count the services, locations and must-have features (booking, store, member area). That list is what every quote should be priced against.
Hosting, domain, support and any marketing tools. A cheap build with expensive upkeep can cost more over three years than a better build.
Line up quotes against the same page list and the same features. If one is much cheaper, find out what's missing.

After launch
Hosting and ongoing costs people forget to budget.
The build is a one-time cost. Running the site isn't. Here's what to expect every year, wherever you build.
Across the market, small-business hosting typically runs from about $10 to $100 a month, depending on speed, security and how much help is included. Our Hosting & Care starts at $20/mo with managed hosting and simple monthly text and image changes. Higher support plans add more time: [placeholder: plan names/prices].
Usually a modest yearly renewal. Know who holds it and how you'd get it back if you ever moved on.
WordPress sites need regular core and plugin updates, and some premium plugins carry yearly license fees. Sites on our platform are static, pre-built pages with no plugins on the live site, so there's no plugin treadmill to pay for.
CRM, email, SMS and review-request tools often cost $100 or more a month on their own. Our Marketing Add-on (HighLevel CRM) is $20/mo on custom sites, normally $97/mo, and included free with ready-made sites.
New pages, seasonal updates and photo swaps add up. Ask any builder how changes are handled and billed before you sign. On our platform you can also edit by describing the change in plain English.
Red flags
Warning signs in a website quote.
Most web designers are honest. These are the patterns worth questioning before you sign anything.
If the quote doesn't list pages, features and what's included, you can't compare it and you can't hold anyone to it.
Know whose account holds your domain and how you'd get it if you leave. Losing it can mean losing your rankings and email.
Nobody controls Google. Good SEO setup is real; guarantees are a sales line.
Very low quotes often skip content, SEO, mobile testing or redirects from your old site, and you pay for it later in lost leads.
Ask who hosts it, who updates it and who you call when something breaks. If the answer is unclear, that's your answer.
Monthly plans are fine. Long contracts you can't leave, with no clarity on what happens to your site if you do, are not.
